Hi kids, here's your opportunity to ask me a question or share a comment or picture!

Hi, I just got my Harlow chair and Sutton loveseat today. To say that I love them would be an understatement!!! Who knew furniture could bring happiness. I bought these pieces for my daughter's room but I love them so much that I want to create a similar look for my formal living room. I really want to get the Harlow chair in Mango or the coffee and cream one but my problem is that I don't know what to match it with. I have no design ability so really need some help. What sofa would match well with them? I don't see any sofa's on the website that have the matching pillows (like the ones I already bought). Do you sell the accent pillows separately so I can mix and match the sofa's with the chairs? Do you think I could also do two chairs with a sofa or would that be too much floral for one room? Thanks so very much for your help!! Kind regards, Victoria P.S. My kitty likes the chair too.

A: Hi Victoria!

First, let me say a BIG "Thank You" for your angelo:HOME purchase and for taking time out to write. It's so awesome to hear from the people that buy and use our furniture. It's the really the reason I do what I do.

Let me ask you a little about the room that you are thinking about putting a sofa/chair combo in. What are the floors like? Wall color? Do you get much natural light? How big a room? What are the other furniture pieces in the room like (coffee table, lamps, drapes, rugs, art work, accessories, etc. If you can provide any pics, that would be swell. That way I can give you more accurate info so that you don't make a purchase that isn't right for you.

Personally, I love the Harlow chair in Mango, but always look at it as an accent piece. If someone has a lot of neutrals, browns, tans, etc, it's the perfect chair (or two) to add and really make a room feel fresh without being too bright. I them recommend that someone add other items in accessories that pull in that mango/muted orange color. Not exact fabrics, but lamp shades, throws, vases, etc that can bring in some of that color so that it makes sense and creates some balance. Even a vase with orang tulips on the coffee table is a simple way to bring it all together.

That being said, the Harlow in the coffee and cream is really the best of both worlds! You can add some interest in your room with the print (which I love) and then the color is neutral enough to work with almost anything! You can do tow of those chairs and because of their color and style, the floral will not feel like it's "too much." You can partner that chair with this sofa:

It even comes with the accent pillows and the kidney shaped one has the floral print on it.

Adding a great rug (neutral/solid with some texture) would be a great way to tie in all the prints. You can bring in either rustic woods for your tables like these:

http://www.angelohome.com/products/view/bowery_stands/

OR you can be more traditional and add a pit of more refined looks like these:

http://www.angelohome.com/products/view/harleston_sideboard_table/
http://www.angelohome.com/products/view/harleston_side_table/

Also, to answer your question about accent pillows. we are working on providing an accent pillow program so you can mix and match seating pieces and them purchase additional pillows to coordinate. We should have something rolling out on the later side of this year.

Hope that helps!

I can not find instructions ANYwhere for the Paper Towel Cubby!!! HELP!! Great idea tho..."LIKE"!
- donna, Whidbey Island, WA

A: Hi Donna-

I'm assuming you are speaking of this:

http://www.angelohomeblog.com/2011/09/awesome-awesomeness-o-day.html

All you have to do is remove a drawer (make sure that drawer space is wide enough to accommodate a paper towel roll). Then make sure that all the drawer sliders, that may be installed in the drawers, are removed. Fill in any holes with putty. Let dry. Sand. Paint inside the drawer. Install paper towel holder. That's it.

You can also have a wooden dowel from the hardware store cut down to the exact size you need and use screw in dowel holders to attach the dowel to the inside of the drawer.

Hope that helped.

All the best,

Hey Angelo, I am looking at purchasing your Sutton loveseat in lotus green. I wanted to know how well the Bowery end table would complement the loveseat.
- Melissa, Portland, OR

A: Hi Melissa-

Thanks for your note and for considering angelo:HOME!

The Sutton in the lotus green will work beautifully with the Bowery Collection. Actually, all the tables have been designed to be able to work with any one of my upholstered pieces. You can mix with confidence. I wanted us to all feel like we could combine homegoods as easily as we do when we mix our culinary tastes.

So, that's a long way of saying, feel free to go with the Bowery with Sutton. The colors and textures will compliment each other beautifully. If you're thinking about adding an area rug below them, think about either going with a bold pattern OR a solid that has a great texture (like a sisal or sea grass type rug). Have fun with your project and if you want, share before and after pics with us!

Hello! I am interested in studying interior design, but I am concerned that I won't be successful at it, because I can not draw. Do you think this will hinder my career?
- Ruben White, Chicago, Il

A: Hi Ruben-

Thanks for your note.

You shouldn't let your inability to draw hinder you from pursuing interior design, if you love it. Today, there are multiple computer programs that assist most designers in creating floor/space plans. In school you will learn the fundamentals of how to approach a room/home/space. The right education will enhance your talent for design. You can't teach talent, but you certainly can foster it.

I rarely draw a space plan when designing, even though I can draw. I've been designing for so long that the way a room works for me isn't about what I can put down on paper, but more about how I can envision the overall space, then let that go in order to be surprised by the creative discovery of something unexpected. For me, when I plan too much I get stuck in my head. Unless you are dealing with structural design, the more you can improvise with your existing creative foundation and talent, the more of a unique and exciting room will emerge.

If you have a passion for design and a natural talent for designing spaces, your lack of drawing ability will not be a hindrance. have fun and Stay creative.
